A boozy comedy of wedding eve nerves set in the Gents and Ladies Toilets of a tacky Nightclub. Unbeknown to each other the respective stag and hen parties are being held in the same place. Dave, whose stag night it is, spends the evening with his head down the pan while his mates demonstrate a mixture of fear, lust and bravado. Linda, whose hen night it is, spends much of the evening drinking heavily and dancing with an ex lover to the consternation of her chums who are both sentimental and sceptical about marriage. They turn on Linda for her bad behaviour. The girls feel that though marriage may be a sacrifice rituals must be observed. The play is filled with typical Russell humour and is very funny and very coarse.

Our House
'The Madness Musical'

Presented By
Theatreworkz

Our House - The Madness MusicalDates: 1st to 4th December 2010 inclusive

Times: TBA

Venue: The Masque Theatre, Barton Seagrave

Tickets: TBA

The show featured songs from the ska/pop band Madness, and was named after one of their most popular hit singles, "Our House". The script for the musical, written by Tim Firth, told a tale of modern-day love set on the streets of London. It followed two different possible courses in the life of a young man, Joe, following his involvement in petty crime.

This romantic comedy begins one summer's evening in North London. The night of a young bloke's sixteenth birthday. The night he commits a petty crime to impress the girl he loves. When the police arrive, young Joe is faced with one of those crossroad choices faced by people at some point in their lives, stay or run. Our House follows the two courses his life would have taken had he stayed to face the music or bunked the law and made a run for it.
